Community Services

  Disaster Action Team (DAT)

       Comprised of Volunteers who meet on the third Monday of each month (except holidays) from 6:30pm -8:30pm to train for disaster response in Arcadia. DAT members may participate as Active or Semi-Active volunteers.

 Health & Safety Instructors

     Volunteer Instructors, who have completed Instructor Training and other required courses are able to teach First aid, CPR, Water Safety, and Babysitting classes at the Arcadia Red Cross.

 

Meals on Wheels

   Volunteer drivers deliver a hot meal and a sack lunch to local Arcadia residents.  

  Meals on Wheels: Meals prepared by Methodist Hospital are delivered by volunteers, Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, in the City of Arcadia only; nominal fee for service. For more information, please call Pat at (626) 447-2193

   The American Red Cross brings you this valuable service in partnership with Lifeline, the nation's leading provider of Personal Response Services. This valuable service can create independence for the disabled or reassurance for the elderly.

Blood Drives

   Every Monday, excluding holidays, at the Arcadia Chapter, from 1:00pm-7:00pm. Volunteers staff the registration and canteen tables. Please call 1(800)GIVE-LIFE or go online at www.givelife.org for an appointment

 

Speakers Bureau

   Community Disaster Education Presentations: History of Red Cross Presentations. Presented free of charge within the City of Arcadia.

 

Information Booths

   Red Cross materials presented at local communities events, free of charge.

YOUTH SERVICES

  • Youth Corps: Local high school students meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday at the Arcadia Chapter to increase awareness of Red Cross programs and support Chapter activities. Minimum age: 14 years old. Volunteer hours credit available.

  • Youth Office Services: Youth volunteers assist Chapter staff with clerical support and health and safety class preparation. Volunteer hours credit available.
    *Please note: There is a waiting list for these positions.
     
  • Youth Disaster Action Team (YDAT): Youth volunteers assist the DAT team with disaster response and shelter staffing. Minimum age: 14 years old. Volunteer hours credit available.
     
  • Red Cross Club: Meets weekly during the school year at Arcadia High School, promoting Red Cross programs and assisting with the school Blood Drive and March is Red Cross Month Schools Campaign. Volunteer hours credit available.
     
  • Leadership Development: Youth volunteers participate on the Board of Directors and attend Leadership Development Center Camp.
     
  • Junior Red Cross - Quarterly meetings at the Red Cross office 3:30-4:30pm
